FDA Committee Endorses the Weight Loss Drug Qnexa

An FDA advisory committee voted to move forward in approving a new weight loss drug called Qnexa. The final approval will not take place until later this year. This is an extremely rare occasion, considering the FDA hardly ever puts its seal of approval on weight loss pills and only one such drug currently remains available, Xenical. Health Care Bill Passes on Christmas Eve Vote in the Senate

The health care bill that has been lingering in the Senate for several weeks now has finally been passed. President Obama calls this landmark legislation “the the most important piece of social legislation since Social Security passed in the 1930s”. The bill passed 60-39 after both sides were all wasted on egg nog (…Ok, so I made that part up! The vote was actually 60-39 though).
